To add an Instagram feed to Shopify, install an Instagram feed app, connect your Instagram account, and place the feed block on your homepage or product pages in the theme editor. If you only need one or two posts, you can embed them for free with Instagram’s embed code in a Custom Liquid section.
Plan on about 10 minutes for an app feed and 5 minutes per embedded post. Below are both methods, a comparison of popular feed apps, and fixes for the problems merchants report most.

Before you start
- An Instagram account you control. Feed apps ask you to log in to Instagram to approve access. Use the account owner’s login, not a staff member’s personal one.
- A clear goal. Social proof on the homepage needs a simple grid. Selling from posts needs product tags, which most apps put on paid plans.
- Theme editor access in Online Store > Themes > Customize.
Option 1: Add a synced Instagram feed with an app
A feed app connects to your account, pulls new posts on a schedule, and gives you layouts like grids and sliders. Paid plans usually add product tags so shoppers can buy from a post.
Popular Instagram feed apps compared
| App | Rating | Price label | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MG Instagram Feed TikTok Feed | 4.9 | Free to install | Instagram and TikTok in one app |
| Instafeed ‑ Instagram Feed (Mintt Studio) | 4.9 | Free; Pro $8/mo; Plus $20/mo | Hourly sync on free plan, large user base |
| GSC Instagram Feed, Instafeed | 4.9 | Free; Shoppable $9/mo; Unlimited $29/mo | 40+ layouts, tagged UGC on free plan |
Instafeed has by far the most reviews. Its free plan lists hourly auto-sync and no branding. GSC’s free plan includes tagged UGC posts and many layouts. MG Instagram Feed TikTok Feed is our app; it shows both Instagram and TikTok feeds, but it has far fewer reviews.
Step by step with MG Instagram Feed TikTok Feed
We build this app, so weigh this section with that in mind.
- Install MG Instagram Feed TikTok Feed from the Shopify App Store.
- Connect your account: log in to Instagram when the app asks and approve access. You can add TikTok the same way.
- Set up the widget: choose a layout and adjust it to match your store’s look.
- Make posts shoppable (optional): attach product tags to posts so shoppers can jump to the product.
- Place the feed: in the theme editor, add the app block to your homepage or product template and save.
- Check analytics: the app tracks engagement and conversions from the feed.
Good to know from reviews: some merchants found first-time setup hard and needed support to finish; others called it quick. Reviewers consistently praise the support team. One 2023 review says the free version synced once every 24 hours and allowed one tagged product, and that paid features were only visible after install. Check current limits inside the app before you plan around them.
Option 2: Embed single Instagram posts without an app
Shopify themes do not pull your Instagram feed by themselves, but you can embed individual posts by hand. This is free and adds no app, but it does not update when you post.
- Open the post on instagram.com in a desktop browser.
- Click the three-dot menu and choose Embed, then copy the embed code.
- In Shopify, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize and open the page where the post should appear.
- Add a Custom Liquid section (available in Online Store 2.0 themes) and paste the code.
- Save and check the page on mobile.
When this is enough: a launch post, a press feature or one creator collaboration. For a living gallery, use an app.
Where to put your Instagram feed
- Homepage, below the hero: shows the brand is active and real.
- Product pages, near reviews: customer photos of the product answer “how does it look in real life?”
- A “Shop the look” page: for fashion and home decor, a full shoppable gallery works as its own landing page.
Avoid placing the feed above your products or the add to cart button. Posts are proof, not the main event. See why embedding Instagram feeds helps a store for more ideas.
What to post so the feed actually helps sales
A feed only works if the posts in it build trust. A grid of discount banners does little. Before you go live, look at your last 12 posts as a shopper would:
- Show the product in use. Real hands, real rooms and real outfits beat studio shots that already sit on the product page.
- Repost customer photos with permission. Tagged UGC answers “do real people buy this?” better than your own content.
- Keep captions short in the feed view. Most layouts crop them anyway.
- Hide off-topic posts. If your app supports hiding or pinning, keep holiday greetings and memes out of the store feed.
Common problems and fixes
The account will not connect
A late-2025 review of a popular feed app describes getting stuck in a login loop. Log out of other Instagram accounts in the browser, use the account owner’s login, and make sure the account is a Business or Creator account if the app asks for one. If it still loops, contact the app’s support with a screen recording.
The feed does not show on the page
Reviewers report feeds missing on product pages or showing errors on the homepage. Check that the app embed is on in the theme editor, that the block was added to the correct template, and that you saved the right theme (not a draft copy).
The feed shows on every page
One merchant could not limit a widget to a single page. Add the feed as a section on one template rather than through a global app embed, if your app supports both.
Reels stopped appearing
A 2023 review says Reels stopped syncing, and support linked it to plan level and copyrighted music. Check which post types your plan includes, and test a Reel with original audio.
Security warning after linking
A September 2026 review mentions a Facebook security warning right after linking Instagram. Approve access only through Instagram’s own login screen, then review connected apps in your Instagram settings.
FAQ
Does Shopify have a built-in Instagram feed?
No. You either embed posts manually or use an app from the Shopify App Store.
Will an Instagram feed slow down my store?
Any feed loads images and scripts. Show a limited number of posts, put the feed lower on the page, and test speed before and after.
Can I tag products in Instagram posts on my store?
Yes, with a shoppable feed app. Instafeed puts tagging on its Pro plan, and GSC on its Shoppable plan. Our app also supports product tags.
Can I show TikTok videos too?
Yes. MG Instagram Feed TikTok Feed shows both. For TikTok alone, see how to add TikTok videos to product pages.
Which Instagram feed app is best?
It depends on sync speed, tagging and layout needs. Our roundup of Instagram feed apps for Shopify compares more options.
Show Instagram and TikTok in one feed
